INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Damp and gloomy today, with significantly cooler temperatures to end the week. Our first freeze could be on tap for parts of the state this weekend.
Isolated light showers and areas of drizzle will be most common through late morning. By early afternoon, expect drier conditions, though mostly cloudy skies will stick around. Temperatures will hold steady through the day, hanging out in the lower 50s – well below average for this time of year. Winds will be light out of the northwest at 5 to 10 mph as that cold front completes its passage.

Skies will clear out, and with light winds and dry air in place, temperatures are going to drop fast. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 20s to mid-30s. Downtown Indianapolis may hold in the mid-30s, but outlying areas—especially north and west—could see readings dip into the upper 20s. Frost will be possible in typically colder spots.

The weekend stays quiet with that area of high pressure keeping things calm. Saturday remains in the low to mid-50s, but Sunday offers a nice warm-up as winds shift more southerly. Highs Sunday will climb into the upper 50s to low 60s. Another chilly night is expected Saturday into Sunday morning, with lows once again near or just below freezing in some spots.

Early next week looks pleasant as temperatures return to the low to mid-60s Monday and Tuesday—slightly above average for early November. Another cold front approaches midweek, bringing our next chance for rain and pushing temperatures back into the 50s by Thursday.
