The Baltimore Ravens on Friday officially announced a trade to acquire Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
The Ravens said Brissett comes to Baltimore in a trade that includes undisclosed draft compensation.
The 33-year-old 11-year NFL veteran was drafted in the third round in 2016 by New England and was recently demoted as the Cardinals’ emergency quarterback after struggling against the Dallas Cowboys. He was replaced by veteran Gardner Minshew, the team’s backup.
The trade comes amid the uncertainty in the Ravens’ quarterbacks room. The Ravens are without star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who suffered a thumb injury during the Buffalo Bills game. Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley is out for the season after he was placed on injury reserve for turf toe.
Brissett could make his Ravens debut on Nov. 16, when the Ravens play the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football.
The Ravens said Brissett has started 73 of 109 games in which he’s played, completing 62.1% of his passes (1,584-of-2,551) for 16,485 yards, 86 touchdowns and 39 interceptions (85.6 rating). Brissett has also added 1,232 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground.
In 20 starts with Arizona, he completed 64.4% of his passes (508-of-789) for 5,085 yards, 33 touchdowns and 15 interceptions (88.6 rating).
During his 2025 debut season as the Cardinals’ starter, he finished with career highs for pass attempts (485), completions (315), completion percentage (64.9), passing yards (3,366), passing TDs (23) and passer rating (94.1).
Brissett played for the Patriots (2016, 2024), Indianapolis Colts (2017-20), Miami Dolphins (2021), Cleveland Browns (2022), Washington Commanders (2023) and Cardinals (2025-26).
He was a member of New England’s Super Bowl LI-winning team during his rookie year with the Patriots, and he was named the Colts’ 2020 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.
Despite all the changes, Ravens fans are sticking with the flock.
“I want to be supportive always because it’s my team, my favorite team, the best team in the nation. However, we’re not looking too good in a lot of different areas, O-Line, Lamar is hurt, our backup is hurt, our kicker is hurt,” said Jermill Thompson-James, a Ravens fan. “It just seems like our defense isn’t clicking the way it should be and everybody kind of hoped they would.”
Fans expressed disappointment by how the season is developing.
“It’s just been really difficult being a fan this season, but the city is behind them. We love them. We want Lamar to get well, of course, and Tyler as well and everybody that’s hurt,” Thompson-James said. “(Ravens undrafted rookie backup quarterback Joe Fagnano) is a high-caliber athlete, anything is possible. The city supports the team wholeheartedly. We bleed purple.”
“It’s a little disappointing, especially for Lamar. I feel sorry for Lamar. He just came back, and then, the very first play of the game, he gets injured again,” said Shamika Christen., a Ravens fan. “I’m always going to root for my team. I’m always going to watch, even when we’re down, but hopefully, we can turn it around. We’ll see.”
Liv’s Tavern, a popular Federal Hill watch spot for games, said it’s still anticipating a big turnout for Thursday night’s game.
“I mean, do we all wish the Ravens were having a better season? Yeah, obviously,” said Connor Foudy, a bartender at Liv’s Tavern. “We have a giant TV, a giant space where people come gather food, drinks. People just come out for the vibes either way. We’re looking forward to it.”
